Essays on Arts-Centered Schools

August 8, 2002 | Read Time: 1 minute

Planning an Arts-Centered School: a Handbook, edited by Carol Fineberg, consists of 18 essays by artists and educators on the development of schools devoted to the arts, covering such issues as governance, funding, curriculum, student recruitment, community participation, and collaboration with arts groups. Perspectives include a teacher’s observations of day-to-day life at an arts-centered elementary school, and a museum educator’s view on school partnerships. The handbook also discusses grantsmanship and offers suggestions and steps for obtaining funds from private sources.
