Ex-Kickstarter CEO’s Next Act Is ‘Dollar a Day’ Charity Site

October 2, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

The co-founder and former chief executive of crowdfunding giant Kickstarter has launched a new venture that aims to draw small daily donations for, and educate users about, a variety of nonprofit groups, technology-news site TechCrunch writes.

Dollar a Day members commit to giving $30 a month to charities highlighted by the site. “It’s a way to get people to discover nonprofits that they might not have heard of. From there they can learn more about the nonprofit and interact directly,” said Perry Chen, who stepped down last year as Kickstarter’s CEO.

The site grew out of a mostly volunteer project Mr. Chen organized with friends in technology and from New York. He said Dollar a Day will feature groups addressing education, health, economic development, the arts, the environment, and human rights.
