Federal Appeals Court Upholds Indiana Telemarketing Law

Last week a federal appeals court in Chicago declined to review a challenge brought by nonprofit groups against an Indiana law that bars charities from hiring professional telemarketers to solicit donations, reports the Associated Press.
Under the law, charities are allowed to make solicitation phone calls only with the help of employees or volunteers. Nonprofit groups say the rule violates their free speech and hampers their fund-raising efforts.
