February 9, 2016 | Read Time: 1 minute

Delivery and logistics giant FedEx is launching a new corporate-giving effort the company says will channel $200 million into more than 200 communities by 2020, The Daily News of Memphis reports. The Memphis-based company said the FedEx Cares program, unveiled last week, is built on using the firm’s assets and practices to achieve goals in areas such as employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable transportation.

The first $50 million is earmarked for “Delivering for Good,” an element of the new program that focuses on using FedEx’s global delivery network to supply resources to disaster zones. “We began to ask ourselves, ‘How can we take what we’re good at and apply it to solving some of the world’s problems in a thoughtful way?’” said Patrick Fitzgerald, the company’s senior vice president for integrated marketing communications.
