Financier Cooperman Pledges $25-Million to N.J. Hospital

April 9, 2014

Hedge-fund billionaire Leon G. Cooperman is giving $25-million to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., to fund a new patient-care facility, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Cooperman, the chairman and chief executive of New York-based fund Omega Advisors, formerly chaired the hospital’s foundation. The donation, timed to mark the hospital’s 150th anniversary next year, will support construction of a 200,000-square-foot treatment center, including a neonatal intensive-care unit.
