Fla. Couple Donates $15 Million to Arts Nonprofit in Naples

The nonprofit Artis–Naples in Florida has received a $15 million gift from a board member and her husband to kick-start the organization’s $50 million fundraising campaign, The Naples Daily News reports.

The gift from Kimberly Querrey and her husband, Louis Simpson—respectively, the chairman and the president of the Florida-based investment firm SQ Advisors—was announced at a private event last week. Funding from the campaign will be used to increase the institution’s endowment, create “artistic and community initiatives,” reconsider uses of the venue’s 8.5 acres, and increase the permanent collection of the Baker Museum, which occupies the property. The property, which includes performance halls, will be renamed for the couple.

Mr. Simpson and Ms. Querrey previously made two gifts totaling $115 million to Northwestern University. The donations were made to support biomedical research programs at the university’s Feinberg School of Medicine and to endow the Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Institute for BioNanotechnology in Medicine.
