Fla. Hospital Receives $75-Million Pledge

January 31, 2007

The Schmidt Family Foundation has pledged $75-million to Boca Raton Community Hospital to help build a new facility at Florida Atlantic University, reports The Palm Beach Post.

The new hospital is expected to cost $650-million, and the hospital plans to begin construction at the end of 2008.

“We gave as much as we could,” said Richard Schmidt, chairman of both the Schmidt Family Foundation and Boca Raton Community Hospital. The foundation says it will give $40-million by the end of 2008, and the remainder will likely come through bequests.
