Ford Foundation Executive to Take Reins at Consumer Reports

July 15, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

Marta L. Tellado, a vice president at the Ford Foundation who began her career working for consumer advocate Ralph Nader, has been hired to lead nonprofit media company Consumer Reports, The New York Times writes.

Ms. Tellado, who heads global communications for the foundation, will join Consumer Reports in the fall, succeeding the retiring James A. Guest. She listed expanding the organization’s advocacy role and social-media presence as priorities.

“We do need to work to move increasingly into the digital space, and Marta has the skills to move us there,” said Diane Archer, who chaired the search committee for the Consumer Reports board. “We also need to reach and engage new audiences, and Marta has the skills to help us do that as well.”
