February 17, 2006
The Detroit Institute of Arts has received a bequest of artwork valued at $15-million from Josephine Ford, the only granddaughter of Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company, reports the Detroit Free Press. The museum plans to unveil the collection—which includes paintings and drawings by Chagall, Degas, Matisse, Picasso, and Renoir—when it completes its large-scale expansion in late 2007. Ms. Ford died in June 2005.
