Ford to Spotlight Government Success

December 11, 1997 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Ford Foundation has announced a new effort to publicize innovative and successful government programs across the country.

The Partnership for Trust in Government is a coalition of 22 companies, charities, and labor unions that will identify and publicize effective government programs to their customers, donors, members, and employees.

The program will be coordinated by the Council for Excellence in Government. Ford gave the council a two-year grant of $570,000, much of which will go to run the partnership.

The program is not intended to eliminate criticism of how the government handles social services and other programs, “but to create a balanced discussion of what the government can and can’t do,” said Michael Lipsky, a senior program officer at Ford.
