Former Chicago Community Trust CEO Heads to Atlanta; College Success Foundation Gets New Leader

Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta
Terry Mazany, who stepped down as CEO of the Chicago Community Trust last fall, has been named senior vice president for philanthropy at the $1.1 billion community fund in Atlanta. He will develop new donor relationships and oversee grant making in the region.
National Trust for Historic Preservation
Stephanie Meeks, president and CEO since 2010, intends to leave at the end of this year. A successor has not yet been named.
Texas School Venture Fund
Mike Feinberg, the co-founder of KIPP who was ousted earlier this year over allegations of sexual misconduct, has become president of this group, which he created to help start and guide charter schools in Texas.
More New CEOs
James Dorsey has been picked as the next president and CEO of the College Success Foundation. Previously he was executive director of Washington MESA and president of MESA USA, which operates youth programs in math, engineering, and science.
Andre Green has been appointed executive director of FairTest, which advocates for changes to standardized testing in education. Previously he was the political director at MassCreative. He succeeds Monty Neill, who is retiring.
Michael Jeser, director of financial resource development at the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland, has been named CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Diego. He succeeds Michael Sonduck, who retired in June after six years as CEO.
Deidre Lind, president of the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, has been named president and CEO of the Pfaffinger Foundation. She succeeds Stephen Meier, who is retiring after 21 years at the helm.
Michael McAfee will become president and CEO of PolicyLink on September 1. He joined the organization in 2011 as the inaugural director of the Promise Neighborhoods Institute. McAfee succeeds Angela Glover Blackwell, who will assume the role of founder-in-residence, working between the Oakland and New York offices.
Karen Murphy, director of operations for the Fellowship of Reconciliation, has been tapped as executive director of the Camphill Foundation. She succeeds Shelley Burtt, who is leaving after eight years.
Carlos Rodríguez Silvestre, interim executive director of the Flamboyan Foundation’s Puerto Rico office, has been installed permanently in the role. Previously he was deputy director of its Puerto Rico team.
William T. Grant Foundation
The New York foundation has hired two new program officers.
Fabienne Doucet, an associate professor in New York University’s department of teaching and learning, will join the foundation in January as a program officer.
Jenny Irons, interim associate director of the Bold Center at Rutgers University, has started as an associate program officer.
Charles Stewart Mott Foundation
The grant maker in Flint, Mich., has hired four new staff members.
Angelina Garner, senior manager of national advancement initiatives at the Forum for Youth Investment, has joined the foundation as a program officer for education.
Arielle Milton has become an associate program officer for education. Previously she was the program coordinator for learning services at the Council of Michigan Foundations.
Carlos Rios-Santiago, who recently received a master’s degree in public policy at Michigan State University, will be a program assistant on the Civil Society team.
Lorenzo Wakefield, a senior program officer in the Justice, Equality, and Rights Program at the Open Society Foundation for South Africa, will now serve as a program officer in the foundation’s South Africa office.

Megan Bang, an associate professor of American Indian studies at the University of Washington, has joined the Spencer Foundation as senior vice president.
Chaletta Huertas, a program officer at GMA Foundations, has been named lead program officer at the Theodore Edson Parker Foundation.
Caleb Tiller, executive director of communications and public affairs at the United Nations Foundation, has been appointed vice president for global communications and marketing at EngenderHealth.
Jennifer Valenzuela, principal of program at Health Leads, has been promoted to managing principal of people and equity.
Karen Wood has been appointed vice president for philanthropy at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. Previously she was director of development at the Riverview School.
Departures
June Gutterman, CEO of Jewish Family Services, in Columbus, Ohio, intends to retire next May. She has held the top role since 2008.
Legacies
Clemmie Dixon Spangler Jr., a billionaire banker and former president of the University of North Carolina, died on July 22 at the age of 86. Through the years, Spangler gave millions for education and scholarships in the Carolinas. Among his gifts was $10 million through his family foundation in 2011 to boost graduation rates at struggling schools in Charlotte, N.C.
