Former Foundation Leader Attracts New Scrutiny

May 11, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

A group of faculty union leaders from the California State University System asked Bill Lockyer, the state’s attorney general, to investigate the rehiring of Barry Munitz, former chancellor of the system, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Mr. Munitz was ousted from his former job as head of the J. Paul Getty Trust, the country’s largest operating foundation, amid allegations of financial irregularities. He was hired by the university last month as a professor, earning about 50 percent more than top professors there.

A spokesman for Mr. Lockyer said the office had received the complaint but could not comment further, the article says. The article did not contain comment from Mr. Munitz, though he has denied any wrongdoing at Getty in the past.
