The former chief executive of the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to using organizational funds for travel, spa treatments, baseball tickets, and other personal expenses, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Linda Carne, 62, of Crozier, Va., was indicted in January after audits showed she rang up nearly $23,000 in personal purchases on her Girl Scouts-issued credit card. Sentencing is scheduled for July 7.
Ms. Carne led the state Scouts organization from April 2010 to December 2011, when she was terminated. Officials with the group said the losses would be covered by insurance, and the organization has tightened procedures for the use of company credit cards.
