Education foundation Whitney Benefits has donated $25.3-million to two-year Sheridan College to support a range of campus physical improvements, reports the Billings Gazette.
Nearly two-thirds of the gift will go toward renovating and expanding the school’s Whitney Fine Arts Center. The remainder will finance work on other buildings and infrastructure improvements on the campus in northern Wyoming near the Montana border.
Whitney Benefits, also based in Sheridan, Wyo., was established by a bequest from banker and investor Edward A. Whitney, who died in 1917. It has supported Sheridan College and other local institutions and made more than $20-million in no-interest loans to college and vocational students.
