A London charity plans to auction off a Picasso painting today that its former owner says was sold in the 1930s under pressure from Nazi officials, reports The Associated Press.
The painting, “Portrait de Angel Fernandez de Soto,” is expected to fetch up to $60-million this evening and is being sold by the Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation at Christie’s, in New York.
A New York City judge had earlier blocked the sale of this painting after the heir to a Berlin banker filed suit to stop the sale. The order blocking the sale was lifted earlier this week.
