Foundation Requests for Proposals for Covid-19 Relief (May 4)

Here are notable new requests for proposals (RFPs) specifically for the Covid-19 outbreak, compiled by the Chronicle:

Blue & You Foundation

The Blue & You Foundation will award a total of $1.7 million through its Rapid-Response Covid Relief Grants program to address food insecurity in Arkansas. Nonprofit organizations may request grants from $5,000 to $150,000. Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis until the fund is exhausted.


Booz Allen Foundation

The Booz Allen Foundation has created an Innovation Fund that will make $1 million in grants to nonprofit groups, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses that are developing solutions to improve Covid-19 relief efforts. Nonprofit organizations can apply for grants of up to $100,000. Of specific interest are ideas to help protect vulnerable communities, support frontline workers, or enable people to safely return to work. Applications are due June 5.

Borealis Philanthropy

Borealis Philanthropy will make $200,000 in rapid-response grants through its Disability Inclusion Fund to support the needs of people with disabilities related to the impact of Covid-19. Grants up to $15,000 each will support organizations on the pandemic front lines that are serving people with disabilities, including mutual aid and support for organizing, policy, and systems-change advocacy. Applications are due May 6.


Community Foundation of North Florida

The Community Foundation of North Florida will make a total of $325,000 in grants, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, to address the Covid-19 outbreak in the Tallahassee area. Grants will offer short-term and long-term relief for local nonprofit groups working in the arts, journalism, and community development.

Community Foundation of Western North Carolina


The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina is awarding grants through its Covid-19 Emergency and Disaster Response Fund to human-services organizations in the region. The first five grant cycles awarded grants worth up to $10,000 each. Grants will continue to be awarded on a rolling basis.

Landmarks Illinois

Landmarks Illinois is accepting applications for its Covid-19 Organization Relief Grants to aid nonprofit groups in Illinois that have been financially affected by the pandemic. A total of 13 grants worth $2,000 each will provide unrestricted funding for operating costs. Eligible organizations must have a budget under $1 million or fewer than seven full-time employees. Applications are due May 15.


Open Road Alliance

The Open Road Alliance is making grants to charitable groups that are directly responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. Organizations may be based anywhere, but must demonstrate that they are playing a clear and direct role in “flattening the curve” to mitigate the economic, health, and social effects of the pandemic. Grants are worth up to $100,000 each.

Vermont Arts Council and Vermont Humanities

The Vermont Arts Council and Vermont Humanities are partnering on the Vermont COVID-19 Cultural Relief Grant Program, which will make grants to support arts and culture groups in the state. Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship as a result of the pandemic, including the risk of permanent closure, loss of revenue, loss of paid staff, or loss of venue or workspace. Applications are due May 31.


Zilber Family Foundation

The Zilber Family Foundation will grant a total of $3 million in emergency funding to support nonprofit organizations located in Milwaukee and Hawaii as they respond to Covid-19. Organizations are invited to apply for operating support grants worth $25,000, or one-time emergency-response grants worth up to $100,000 each. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.
