The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation awarded a major community-college grant this week, giving $3-million to establish a new home for Montgomery College’s arts programs, reports The Washington Post.
The gift will go toward the $33-million arts center, on the college’s Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. The new building will be named after Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz. Their foundation is in the Washington area.
In addition, a $4.4-million gift from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation will help the University of Maryland complete a new building and support the study of the future of journalism, the Post reports. That foundation has given $20-million in 20 years to the university.
