Foundations Lend $12-Million to Detroit Neighborhoods

The Ford Foundation and James L. and John S. Knight Foundation will give $12-million in low-interest loans to help the city of Detroit redevelop poor neighborhoods, reports The Detroit News.
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiative aims to increase employment and job training in the city. The mayor identified six areas that he hopes to redevelop by the end of his term.
