Foundations Step Up Socially Responsible Investing

A growing number of foundations are taking steps to make sure their endowments are invested in ways that jibe with the social goals of the philanthropy,
The Wall Street Journal.

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Rhode Island Foundation are among the latest foundations to announce that they will make sure that their votes on shareholder resolutions are in synchronism with the foundation’s mission.

Other foundations have been taking similar steps in recent years, but most take a hands-off approach to their investments, according to a Chronicle of Philanthropy survey of the nation’s wealthiest foundations..
