March 30, 2006
Trevor Armbrister, a journalist and writer who founded the organization eventually known as Rebuilding Together, died last week of pancreatic cancer at the age of 72, reports The Washington Post.
Mr. Armbrister started Christmas in April, which has organized volunteers to rehabilitate 2,500 homes in the Washington area, in 1982 after writing about a similar organization in Texas for Reader’s Digest. From 1988 to 1992, he was chairman of the organization, which now has 240 affiliates in 48 states.
