A veteran Fox television executive lost her job earlier this month after using her company email account for an effort to raise money for the families of passengers on the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the Associated Press reports.
Darlene Tipton was vice president for standards and practices for the Fox Cable Networks Group when she was let go April 9 after nearly 25 years with the company. She had launched the fundraising effort with an email to an American woman whose boyfriend was on the plane that disappeared March 8, aiming to arrange swift aid for passengers’ loved ones who agreed to forgo seeking damages in court.
Scott Grogin, a Fox spokesman, confirmed that Ms. Tipton has left the firm. He said the longtime executive’s “conduct and communications” violated company policy but declined to discuss particulars, citing privacy concerns. Ms. Tipton’s husband said she planned to file a wrongful-termination suit.
