France Gives High Honor to Leader of New York Art Museum

The French government awarded its country’s highest recognition, the Legion of Honor medal, to Philippe de Montebello, director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, reports the Associated Press.
The museum has nearly doubled in size under his leadership, which was among his accomplishments recognized in the award ceremony at the French consulate in New York on Sunday. Mr. de Montebello, 70, has led the museum since 1977 and was born in France.
