Frederick Ryan Jr. Will Lead Reagan Foundation’s Center on Public Civility

Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute

Frederick Ryan Jr. will now lead the presidential foundation’s new nonpartisan Center on Public Civility. He has served as board chairman of the Reagan Foundation since 1995.

Ryan has been publisher and CEO of the Washington Post for the past nine years. He is also the co-founder of Politico, which he led from 2007 until 2014.

Carbon to Sea Initiative

Antonius Gagern will be the first executive director of this new scientific-research organization that aims to use ocean alkalinity enhancement to store and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Gagern was most recently program director for the ocean CO2 removal program at Additional Ventures, the philanthropy created by Erin Hoffmann, who serves as its president, and Mike Schroepfer, the former chief technology officer at Meta.

Matriculate

Craig Robinson has been promoted to president and CEO of this organization that helps students from historically marginalized communities navigate the road to college and graduation.

He joined the group as its president at the end of last year.

Strada Education Foundation

Aristide Collins Jr. will join the $2 billion foundation in August as its first executive vice president, chief administrative officer, and chief of staff.

Currently he is vice president, chief of staff, and university secretary at George Washington University.

More New CEOs

Marie Brais Beam will be promoted from chief development officer to CEO of the Discovery Museum. She will start her new role on January 1 upon the retirement of Neil Gordon, who has led the children’s science museum in Acton, Mass., for 14 years.

Jessica Fulton, vice president of policy at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, will now serve as interim president of this think tank for issues that primarily affect Black Americans. She follows Spencer Overton, who has departed after leading the organization since 2014. He has also been a board member there since 2013.

Lindsay Catherine Harris, director of education at the Brooklyn Museum, has been hired as co-director of Recess Art, where they will serve alongside Shaun Leonardo. Harris will replace museum founder Allison Freedman Weisberg, who stepped down in December after 14 years.

Letta Neely will be promoted from vice president of programs to executive director of Apprentice Learning, effective July 1.

Other Notable Appointments

Amber Barr was promoted from program director to vice president of programs at the Immokalee Foundation.

Tim Kennedy, chief advancement officer at the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, is now chief development officer at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

Sam Kille has been promoted to vice president of communications at the GroundTruth Project. He has served in the role on an interim basis for the past year and was previously the journalism group’s director of communications.

Joel Wiginton, a principal in the Raben Group’s government affairs and policy counsel practice, will join the Pew Charitable Trusts on July 25 as senior vice president for government relations.

Jennifer Wistrand, a cultural anthropologist and assistant teaching professor of global and intercultural studies at Miami University in Ohio, is returning to the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute as deputy director. She previously was a fellow at the center for advanced research on Russia and Eurasia from 2012 until 2013.
