Gates Foundation CEO Looks Ahead

Patty Stonesifer, chief executive of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, fielded questions on Monday from other charity officials about how the foundation will use the approximately $31-billion that Warren Buffett pledged to the foundation in July, The Wall Street Journal reports.
At the annual meeting of Independent Sector, an association that represents many of the nation’s biggest charities and foundations, Ms. Stonesifer said her foundation plans to recruit leaders from a variety of industries, not just nonprofit organizations.
She also said the grant maker has no plans to expand its governing board to include more people. Ms. Stonesifer said the foundation would create three seven-person advisory boards to to guide its major grant-making efforts.
