Gates Fund Awards Grant to Study Effectiveness

The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University has received a $750,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a research project on the effectiveness of nonprofit groups, the university reports.
The Center on Philanthropy Panel Study will collect data in 2007 and 2009 on giving and volunteering by the same households over time. The results will be available for free on the center’s Web site.
