GERMAN WIKIPEDIA
January 20, 2006
The Wikimedia Foundation, which operates Wikipedia, the interactive online encyclopedia, reached a settlement today that allowed the German version of the site to return to the Internet after a lawsuit prompted a three-day blackout, reports the Associated Press. The family of a deceased German hacker, codenamed Tron, sought an injunction against the Web site for publishing his real name, citing infringement of their privacy. However, a judge overrruled the injunction this morning, saying he wouldn’t block access to the Web site’s 3.7 million entries due to concern about a single entry.
