GETTY HOUSING
February 15, 2006
Officials at the J. Paul Getty Trust are facing another financial setback as the house the organization purchased for the use of its museum director, Michael Brand, is uninhabitable due to mold, reports the Los Angeles Times. The Getty bought the $3.5-million house in October after Mr. Brand decided not to live in another house the museum owns. Sen. Charles Grassley, a Republican from Iowa and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said the Getty’s housing purchases seem excessive. The museum is already under investigation by state officials for possible financial irregularities. The institution has denied any wrongdoing.
