GETTY TRUSTEE RESIGNS
March 15, 2006
Steven B. Sample, president of the University of Southern California, has resigned from the board of the J. Paul Getty Trust, in Los Angeles, just a year-and-a-half into his four-year term, reports the Associated Press. In a brief resignation letter, Mr. Sample said his responsibilities at the university “make it impossible for me to continue” as a Getty trustee. During his term, the trust faced numerous controversies, most recently an investigation by the state attorney general into the spending practices of former Getty President Barry Munitz.
