Israeli businessman Sammy Ofer and his wife, Aviva, have withdrawn their $20-million pledge to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art after critics protested a plan to name a new wing of the museum after the couple, reports the Globes, a business publication in Israel. The Ofers blamed their change of heart on what they said was a “campaign of defamation” by Tel Aviv residents that included petitions and an appeal to the government.
