Girl Scouts of the USA Names Missouri Council Leader as Next CEO

Bonnie Barczykowski, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri council, has been named CEO of the national organization.

She follows Sofia Chang, who will depart at the end of February after one year at the helm.

Farm Sanctuary

Ellen O’Connell, interim CEO of the animal-rights group since July, will continue permanently as CEO.

Previously she was president and CEO of Sankhara Consulting.


Partnership for a Healthier America

Noreen Springstead, executive director of WhyHunger, has started as president and CEO of this nonprofit organization that was started in collaboration with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move effort in 2010.

Noreen Springstead is president and CEO of the Partnership for a Healthier America, which was started in collaboration with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move effort in 2010.

Springstead succeeds Nancy Roman, who had led the group since 2017.

More New CEOs

Kelly Baum, curator of contemporary art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been hired as director of the Des Moines Art Center.

Lisa Lowe-Hall, former executive director of the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center and founder of WholenessCare, will now serve as CEO of Triangle Family Services. She follows Alice Lutz, who has retired after serving in the role for 13 years.

Tess Rowland, a television news reporter in Panama City Beach, Fla., has become national president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, where she will serve alongside its new CEO, Stacey Stewart. Rowland survived critical injuries in a 2021 car collision with a suspected drunk driver.

Other Notable Appointments

Manny Aceves, associate dean for strategic engagement at the Loyola Marymount University School of Education, has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation as chief program officer.

Matthew Bethea, assistant vice president for development at the University of North Texas, has been named vice president for university advancement at Sam Houston State University.

Ana Paula Buzo, talent and culture leader at Christel House Mexico, has been promoted to chief talent and diversity, equity, and inclusion officer at Christel House International. She will continue to be based in Mexico.

Andrew Davidson will become senior vice president for university advancement at Boston College on March 1. Currently he is vice president for development at Dartmouth College.

Lois Gabin-Legato has joined the Cooper Foundation as vice president of advancement for major gifts and planned giving. Most recently she was vice president of institutional advancement and chief advancement officer at the Philadelphia Foundation.

Kari Kurjiaka, senior manager of literacy and external affairs at Reach Out and Read of Greater New York, has been named project director at the Diverse Books for All Coalition.

Mollie Marsh-Heine has been hired as chief development officer at the Natural Resources Defense Council. For the past seven years, she has served as senior vice president of development at Earthjustice.

Ryan Meardon, vice president of sales at Head Rush Technologies, has been appointed vice president of corporate and donor relations at CureDuchenne.

Bathsheba Philpott, vice president of advancement at the American Council on Education, will now serve as vice president of philanthropy at the National Medical Fellowships.

Sheila Shin, interim chief marketing officer at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, has been promoted to chief experience officer, a new role at the museum. She was previously its director of brand marketing and sales.

Abby Spring has joined the Conservation Fund as senior vice president of strategic engagement. Most recently, she was founder and president of Spring Global, a strategic-communications consulting company.

Departures

Jeff Dykstra, co-founder of Partners in Food Solutions, will step down after 15 years as CEO in the next year. A successor has not yet been named.

Jolene Fassbinder, a program officer at the Archstone Foundation, has left after 10 years at the $102 million foundation.

Tom Hameline, president and CEO of HELP USA since 2011, plans to retire in June.
