Giving to Clinton Foundation Nearly Tripled in 2013

November 20, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation reported receiving $144.4-million in contributions and grants last year, up from $51.5-million in 2012, the Associated Press writes. The foundation’s merger with another of former President Bill Clinton’s charities, the Clinton Global Initiative, and its launch of an endowment in 2013 were key factors in the nearly threefold increase, tax records released by the organization show.

Consolidation with the Clinton Global Initiative increased both revenue and expenses for the foundation, which changed its name last year after Hillary Clinton left office as secretary of state and took on a role with the philanthropy. Nine unidentified donors accounted for $64-million of last year’s fundraising, with the biggest gift totaling $15-million.
