Goodwill Chooses Former HUD Secretary as CEO (Transitions)

Goodwill Industries International
Steven Preston, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under President George W. Bush, will become the charity’s president and CEO in January. He replaces Jim Gibbons, who stepped down in August after 10 years. Lorna Utley, retired president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, will continue to head the national headquarters as interim leader until then.
Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Thomas Campbell, former director and chief executive of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been hired as director and CEO. He swaps places with Max Hollein, who left in the spring to take the job at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Prosperity Now
Andrea Levere, who has been president of the economic-development group since 2004, intends to step down from her position next year, once a successor has been named. She has worked for the organization, previously known as the Corporation for Enterprise Development, for 26 years.

Katie Cour, an education consultant and former executive director of talent strategy at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, has been named president and CEO of the Nashville Public Education Foundation.
James Kessler, a retired Marine major general and vice president of the materiel management division at Logistics Management Institute, has been appointed president and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, which raises money for the National Museum of the Marine Corps. He replaces Robert Blackman Jr., who is retiring in December after almost eight years at the helm.
Jennifer Vanore, vice president of programs at UniHealth Foundation, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer. She will report to Bradley Call, who remains the grant maker’s chairman and CEO.
New University Fundraisers
Kim Blair, a principal-gifts officer at Virginia Tech, was promoted to assistant vice president for advancement for the university’s campus in Roanoke.
Colleen Coppla, assistant vice president for institutional advancement at Florida Atlantic University, has been appointed vice president for development at Montclair State University.
Rossano Rovello, associate director of individual giving at St. Francis College, in New York, has been named director of advancement initiatives at the State University of New York College at Old Westbury.
Tom Sasser has joined William Jessup University as chief development officer. Most recently he was the assistant dean of development for the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific.
McKennon Shea, major-gifts and leadership annual-fund officer at Duke Divinity School, has been named assistant vice president for development at High Point University.
Kimberly Vickers has been named associate vice president of advancement at the New College of Florida and associate director of the New College Foundation. She was most recently senior director of alumnae relations at Agnes Scott College.

William Belcher, founder of the fundraising and communications consultancy Wordhorse Strategies, has become director of development and external relations at Ucross, an artist-residency program in Wyoming.
Kelly MacLean Clark, vice president of community relations and philanthropy at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, has been named chief development officer at Lawrence General Hospital.
Phil Karsting, a former administrator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service, has been named vice president of policy at the World Food Program USA.
Lisa Harper Kennedy, corporate counsel and director of grant development at Horizons National, has been named director of development and institutional giving at StoryCorps.
MaryLynn Mack, deputy director of the Desert Botanical Garden, has been named chief operating officer of the South Coast Botanic Garden.
Jill Richards, chief marketing officer at Appthority, has been named chief marketing officer at Fluxx, a company that designs software for foundations and nonprofits applying for grants.
Departures
Jaynee Day, president and CEO of Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee, will step down from her leadership role in June. She has worked at the Nashville food bank since 1988.
Kimerly Rorschach, director and CEO of Seattle Art Museum, plans to retire next fall after leading the museum for seven years.
