Google announced Tuesday that Larry Brilliant, a former World Health Organization official and doctor for the rock band the Grateful Dead, will lead the Mountain View, Calif., company’s philanthropic efforts, which are known collectively as Google.org, reports USA Today. Dr. Brilliant, who founded the Seva Foundation, which helps blind people in Nepal, Cambodia, and other impoverished nations, said he took the job because of its focus on health and technology.
