GOP Group Seeks Disclosure on Clinton Foundation Spending

July 8, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

A Republican research organization is calling for the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation to release audits and other financial data following Hillary Clinton’s assertion that she donates her six-figure college speaking fees to the family charity, writes Politico.

Tim Miller, president of the America Rising PAC, said the foundation has spent millions of dollars on travel for the Clintons, “celebrity-fueled donor events,” and pay for Democratic aides who could serve in a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. “For Americans to credibly believe these speaking fees are being donated to charitable endeavors, the foundation must be transparent” about its spending, he said.

Ms. Clinton has drawn criticism for reaping more than $200,000 for campus speeches, and students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, called on her to return a $225,000 honorarium. Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for Correct the Record, a pro-Clinton group, said the UNLV fee was covered by private donors and that the school has “raised more than $350,000 in table sponsorships” for Ms. Clinton’s address at an October event.
