Grant Maker Wants to Cut College Costs
June 22, 2006
The Lumina Foundation for Education, in Indianapolis, will award $25.5-million in grants over the next five years to support innovative ways to make university education more affordable, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Officials with the foundation are still developing guidelines for the grant-application process, but expect to have money available—for states, universities, and other organizations—by the end of the year.
“We have to change our way of doing business in higher education,” said Dewayne Matthews, the foundation’s senior research director.
