Grant Makers Need to Be Less Cautious, Says Foundation Leader

Foundations should take greater risks and be more vocal about their efforts, said Maxwell King, the new chairman of the Council on Foundations, during the association’s annual conference, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “There are some factions in the Council on Foundations that are uncomfortable with being proactive, aggressive, and very public about the work,” said Mr. King, who also is president of the Heinz Endowments, in Pittsburgh.
