Grants Roundup: $12 Million From Moody Foundation for Children’s Medical Research

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Moody Foundation
$12 million to the Children’s Medical Center Research Institute at University of Texas Southwestern to endow professorships and research programs.
Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust
$5 million to the JDRF T1D Fund for new approaches to cure, treat, and prevent Type 1 diabetes.
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
$3.5 million to establish and endow the Asian Paintings Conservation Center at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Jim Joseph Foundation
$1.9 million to the JCC Association of North America for the Sheva-Covenant Early Childhood Directors Institute.
J.M. Smucker Company
More than $1.1 million to endow Akron Art Museum and support its program offering free admission on Thursdays.
Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation
$1 million to the Ratcliffe Shore Hatchery entrepreneurship competition at Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business.
John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
$350,000 to Florida International University to support Puerto Rican students affected by Hurricane Maria. The money will pay for living expenses, tuition, and other costs associated with relocation for students who have come to the university to continue their studies while universities in Puerto Rico recover.
