Grants Roundup: $2.5 Million Award Helps NYC Theater Build New Home

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Democracy Fund and First Look Media
Three grants of $3 million apiece will support independent journalism projects at the Center for Investigative Reporting, the Center for Public Integrity, and ProPublica.
Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust
A total of $5.2 million to the Australasian Gastro Intestinal Research Foundation and the Chinese University of Hong Kong to study environmental factors influencing the development of inflammatory bowel diseases, which have been on the rise in Asia.
Delta Air Lines Foundation
$3.5 million to back leadership programs at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, endow the newly renamed Delta Leadership Coaching Fellows Program, and establish the Delta Leadership Hub, a teaching and reception space at the school.
Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust
A $2.5 million challenge grant to MCC Theater to help the New York stage company build its first permanent home and expand programming.
W.K. Kellogg Foundation
A grant of more than $2 million to HealthConnect One to support maternal and child health programs.
Nationwide Foundation
A $1.5 million grant to help the Food Bank of Iowa overhaul its distribution center in Des Moines. The renovation will allow the organization to double its food disbursements.
New grant opportunity:
BrightFocus is offering new grants totaling $13.3 million for research programs aimed at finding cures for Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
