Grants Roundup: Mich. Community College Receives $1 Million for New Campus

Notable new grants compiled by The Chronicle:
Kalamazoo Community Foundation
The grant maker gave $2.4 million to local nonprofits, including $1 million to Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s new campus, which houses culinary and health-career programs.
Coleman Foundation
More than $2.4 million went to 11 organizations during the second quarter of 2015. The grants included $500,000 to the Children’s Residential Group Home in Palatine, Ill., for people with developmental disabilities.
Sobrato Family Foundation
Grants worth more than $2.2 million went to 16 nonprofits in June, including $240,000 to organizations working in high-need public school districts in Silicon Valley.
Daniels Fund
The foundation gave $1 million to National Jewish Health, a respiratory hospital, to support its palliative-care services.
James M. Cox Foundation
The foundation gave $1-million to the Atlanta Botanical Garden to help expand the garden and improve visitor experience.
Iowa West Foundation
Among the grant maker’s most recent awards are $124,000 to Ballet Nebraska and $25,000 to Food Bank for the Heartland.
