Grants Roundup: Wilson Foundation Gives $5 Million for Western N.Y. Youth Sports

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:

Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation

$5 million to the Rochester Area Community Foundation to create a fund to support youth sports.

Cargill and Teys Australia

$2.75 million to Texas Tech University for programs in meat science. Cargill, an agricultural-services company, is giving $750,000 to establish an endowed professorship in sustainable meat science, and $2 million from meat producer Teys will support research on the topic.

HSBC

$1.5 million to help Horizons expand its summer education programs for low-income children.

Standard Chartered Bank

$1.5 million over three years to support the Seva Foundation’s cataract-surgery programs in India and Cambodia.


Ruiz Foods

$1 million to expand the University Business Center at California State University at Fresno’s Craig School of Business.

RCHN Community Health Foundation

$1 million over three years to George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health to support policy analysis, graduate-student research, and guest lecturers.
