Foundation Grants to Individuals, 11th Edition

Edited by Phyllis Edelson

Individuals received funds totaling $440-million last year from the more than 3,800 grant makers profiled in this guide published by the Foundation Center.

The entry for each grant maker contains contact information, financial data, limitations on grant making, deadlines, and, where available, a description of programs offered exclusively to individuals.

The guide classifies grant makers in eight categories according to the types of support they provide: scholarships and student loans; general welfare, including emergency assistance; funds for arts and cultural endeavors; awards available by nomination only; grants from U.S. foundations for non-residents; grants offered by companies to their employees; and — new to this edition — financial support for research projects.

As in previous years, the Foundation Center strongly suggests that readers adopt the mantra “If you don’t qualify, don’t apply.”
