March 3, 2005 | Read Time: 1 minute
The Nonprofit Legal Landscape, edited by Thomas K. Hyatt, is an overview of legal topics relevant to the work of nonprofit directors and managers. Written by lawyers at the firm of Ober/Kaler and produced by BoardSource, the book is intended to help nonprofit leaders avoid legal problems and respond effectively once such problems have arisen. The book’s 11 chapters briefly discuss topics such as setting up a nonprofit group, lobbying and electioneering, employment law, antitrust law, and criminal investigations. The guide also offers advice on filling out Forms 990 and provides an example of a whistle-blower policy.
