Head of San Diego Foundation to Retire After 20 Years

The president and chief executive of the San Diego Foundation is stepping down this month after 20 years on the job, the U-T San Diego reports.
Bob Kelly will be succeeded by Kathlyn Meads, formerly chief operating officer of the California Endowment.
During his time at the helm of the San Diego Foundation, assets grew from less than $90-million to more than $660-million. This year, it will make more than $50-million in grants. Ninety-six percent of foundation grants are given at the direction of donors.
It has become the City of San Diego’s second largest supplier of educational scholarships, doling out $8.6-million in the last two years.
