The following nonprofit organizations each filed at least one federal tax return between 1998 and 2001 on which they listed having made loans totaling at least $10,000 to officers, directors, or what the Internal Revenue Service defines as “key employees” — those having responsibilities or powers similar to those of officers or directors. This information is based on copies of the groups’ tax returns published online and other computerized data provided by GuideStar. Though some states have laws prohibiting nonprofit corporations from making loans to officers or directors, an organization’s presence on this list does not imply any wrongdoing on its part.
