Clara Miller, who has led the Heron Foundation since 2011, will move into a new role on December 31: president emerita.
In 2018 and 2019, she will spend her time on research and writing for Heron, as well as other projects of her choosing, which may include teaching and working with other organizations on issues of common interest.
The Heron Foundation has long been a pioneer in investing for both financial and social returns, an approach that gained new momentum this year when the Ford Foundation announced that it plans to invest $1 billion of its $12 billion endowment for mission. In 2013, under Ms. Miller’s leadership, Heron committed to investing its entire portfolio for mission — a milestone the fund reached late last year.
Dana Bezerra, a senior vice president at Heron, will lead ongoing operations.
