The blog Philanthropybeat says The Washington Post turned an afterthought of a story into front-page news when it reported on Tuesday that Sen. Hillary Clinton did not disclose her ties to the Clinton Family Foundation on her Senate financial disclosure reports.
Such disclosures are required under Senate ethics rules, but Philanthropybeat says the nondisclosure is a nonstory.
“The Clinton Family Foundation’s tax returns have, as required by the IRS, been publicly available since its inception,” the blogger writes. “Next up for tomorrow’s edition of the Post: Hillary’s eighth-grade report card not signed by parents and returned to teacher.”
Senator Clinton’s office says the disclosure forms were amended to include the information about her foundation affiliation after it was alerted to the oversight by a Post reporter.
