How Churches Can Win Grant Money

October 13, 2005 | Read Time: 1 minute

Aligning Your Church To Receive Abundance: Faith-Based Grants, by Beverly A. Browning, a consultant and author, maps out the steps churches should take in seeking grant money from foundations and government agencies. Ms. Browning explains the 2002 executive order that extended federal grant making to religious groups, and provides advice on applying for nonprofit status. Her book also discusses how to identify community problems that will win over grant makers, draft a plan for raising money, find donors willing to lend support, and write winning grant proposals. She describes how to bring volunteers into the grant-seeking process, and reflects on the potential for federal grant money to disappear after the Bush administration leaves office.
