How Consumers View Corporate Philanthropy

A new survey indicates that more Americans define a company’s “social responsibility” by the way it treats its employees, rather than by its philanthropy, reports The New York Times.

Twenty-seven percent of the 800 adults surveyed said corporations primarily demonstrate their good citizenship by their commitment to employees, while 3 percent said charitable giving was a major indicator of positive corporate practices.
