Humane Society International Appoints New Leader (Transitions)

Humane Society International
Jeffrey Flocken, senior vice president for programs and policy, has been promoted to president. He succeeds Kitty Block, who became president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States in February.
Catalogue for Philanthropy
Matt Gayer, director of community and nonprofit development, and Aaron Gonzales, director of development, will now serve as co-executive directors.
They succeed Barbara Harman, founder of this organization that promotes and raises money for community-based nonprofit groups in the metropolitan Washington region, who is stepping down after 16 years to become chair of its Board of Directors.
Commonwealth Fund
Liz Fowler, vice president for global health policy at Johnson & Johnson, has joined the $750 million grant maker as executive vice president for programs, based in New York. She succeeds Donald Moulds, who is leaving after five years.
In addition, Melinda Abrams, vice president for delivery-system reform, has been promoted to senior vice president for the delivery-system reform and international health-policy programs.
Open Society Foundations
Nicole Wilett has joined the $3.7 billion grant maker to be chief of staff to its president, Patrick Gaspard. Most recently she was deputy director for program advocacy and communications at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Paula Autry, CEO of Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, has been named president and CEO of Henry Ford Allegiance Health. She succeeds Georgia Fojtasek, who is retiring after 25 years.
Jamie McMahon, advancement director at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, has been named CEO of the Educational Foundation of the Community College of Allegheny County. He succeeds Rose Ann DiCola, who is retiring after 17 years.
Donna Wyatt, former director for career and college transitions at the California Department of Education, has been appointed executive director of Get Focused, Stay Focused.

Julia Allen, chief development officer at Gaston College, has been named assistant dean of advancement in the College of Natural Resources and Environment at Virginia Tech.
Lynn Alvarez has joined the ECMC Foundation as vice president of programs and strategy. Most recently she ran her own philanthropic consulting firm for 15 years.
Bronwyn Bevan, a senior research scientist at the University of Washington’s College of Education, has been hired as director of research at the Wallace Foundation.
Teesa Brunson, assistant vice president for institutional advancement and development officer for major and planned gifts at Voorhees College, has been named director of development and associate vice president for institutional advancement at Allen University.
Daniel Lewis, assistant vice president for development and campaign director at Saint Mary’s College of California, has been named vice president for advancement at Westminster College in Utah.
Jeanette Radford, senior director of philanthropy at Year Up, has been named vice president of strategic planning and development at the Council for a Strong America.
Samantha Roy, a development consultant at Health Care for All, has joined Parenting Journey as its director of strategic partnerships.
Dub Taylor, a consultant to business and sales teams, has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Allen University.

Departures
Kenyon Victor Adams, director of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, has resigned after six months on the job.
Jennifer Baker, director of public affairs at the National Rifle Association for six years, has departed amid a reported shake-up on the gun-rights group’s executive team.
Ron Dempsey, vice president for university advancement at Winona State University, is leaving to become president of Oakland City University.
Adam Meyerson will step down as president of Philanthropy Roundtable when a successor has been hired. He has led the organization since 2001.
Sonal Shah, founding executive director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation at Georgetown University, will be taking a leave of absence to become the national policy director for the presidential campaign of Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind.
Sandra Timmons is departing after 16 years as president of A Better Chance, a New York nonprofit group that mentors academically talented minority students and helps them get into top schools.
