Illinois Community Seen as Model for Multi-Generational Living

August 5, 2015

Hope Meadows, a nonprofit multi-generational community in Illinois where older adults support the parents of adopted and foster children, has become a model for similar efforts around the country, according to a story by NPR.

Other communities in places like Oregon, Florida, and Massachusetts have developed programs inspired by the example of Hope Meadows. In Washington, D.C., a nonprofit developer is building a community that brings together older people and teen mothers, using both public and private funds. Similar projects are being designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities and veterans with traumatic injuries.
